MARION MUZAC

Marion Muzac trained at the Conservatoire before pursuing a university degree in business and communication. In New York, she studied the Merce Cunningham technique, and in Toulouse she took part in training at the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique. She teaches contemporary dance at isdaT and at the Conservatoire de Toulouse, where she became head of the dance department in 2013. Since 2001, she has combined teaching work with choreographic projects. She met Jérôme Brabant while performing in a piece by Marco Berrettini, and together they founded UND und ballet [...], creating Roomy Dancing in 2002, GALA in 2003 and Pavillon in 2004. In 2008, she created the dance-and-music duo hero hero with saxophonist David Haudrechy, regularly performed in primary and secondary schools. In 2010, she co-signed Le sucre du printemps with visual artist Rachel Garcia, a choreographic project for 27 young dancers.
After Toulouse, Le sucre du printemps was staged in Düsseldorf, in Paris at the Théâtre National de Chaillot in collaboration with the CND in Pantin, and in Ramallah, Palestine. Following this creation, she made a documentary film, 17 printemps, with director Sophie Laloy, following the coming-of-age journey of a 17-year-old dancer entering the adult world through the experience of dance. In 2016, she created Ladies First, a piece for 20 teenage girls paying tribute to pioneering women in the history of contemporary dance, and has collaborated with visual artist Emilie Faïf ever since. This project has been presented at partner CDCNs and at the Théâtre de Chaillot. With Let's Folk! (created in 2018), she questions audiences' access to cultural codes, working around so-called "popular" dances by combining choreographic performance with audience participation. Since September 2018, she has been an associate artist at the Scène Nationale de la Rochelle, where she created the piece Étreinte(S) for 14 amateur and professional dancers in November 2020. With this project, she sought to highlight fundamental gestures such as embracing one another, at a time dominated by the digital. That same year, she created the short-form piece MU, which explores popular culture through dance. Somewhere between a dance performance, a concert and a visual performance, MU is a hybrid, shifting and enigmatic form, a bridge between ancestral and modern mythologies. Since September 2019, she has been an associate artist at L'Estive Scène nationale de Foix and at the Théâtre le Rive Gauche, a dance-focused venue in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray. Marion Muzac was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in September 2017.

DAVID HAUDRECHY

David Haudrechy is a saxophonist, composer, producer and teacher. He coordinates and teaches contemporary and amplified music at isdaT, and also contributes to musical analysis within the dance department. A state-certified jazz teacher (DE), he leads the jazz class at the Conservatoire de Montauban and also teaches at Music'Halle.
Born in 1981, David Haudrechy began with classical saxophone; his years of training, rich in musical discovery, opened up new horizons through ensemble music in all its forms (big band, chamber music...) and above all through improvised music. He had the opportunity to share the stage with major figures including Claude Barthélémy, Frédéric Borey, Horace Parlan and, crucially, Archie Shepp, whose influence proved decisive. He also crossed paths with the new generation of French jazz musicians, including Julien Lourau and Magic Malik.
He furthered his training with Philippe Lecoq at the CRR in Toulouse, studying jazz alongside classical and contemporary repertoire, working alongside Emile Parisien. His varied musical experiences went on to bring him onto the same stage as Magic Malik, Emmanuel Bex, Aldo Romano, François Théberge, Stéphane Guillaume, Joël Trolonge, Claude Égéa, Médéric Collignon, Thomas De Pourquery, Vincent Artaud, Daniel Humair, and others. In 2006, he formed the "David H Quartet" to assert his own musical identity through an original musical language, influenced by modern jazz, rock and 20th-century music.
Alongside this, he has taken part in numerous ensembles: the saxophone quartet "Somesax," "Zarca" (oriental jazz), Philippe Laudet Jazz Odyssée, and Big Band 31 (featuring prestigious guests such as David Linx, Richard Galliano, Claude Égéa and Terez Moncalm). He has also collaborated on projects centred on contemporary dance, as well as various film projects, including short films and documentaries.
In 2012, he founded INITIATIVE H, a large ensemble bringing together leading figures of the new jazz scene, whose debut album Deus Ex Machina was released in 2014, followed by Dark Wave in 2015, Broken Land in 2018, Moondog Remixes in 2019, and most recently Polar Star on the prestigious Neuklang label. INITIATIVE H has performed at a number of national festivals. In 2021, together with Romain Barbot (modular synthesiser) and Romain Quartier, he formed Sables Noirs, a drone-music-and-mapping duo. They released their first EP, Cette Nuit, in 2023 in collaboration with L'Astrada Marciac. Sables Noirs, in partnership with choreographic artist Marion Muzac, is now developing a dance-music-video trio, BLITZ.
