CHALLENGER

« Elon, I dedicate this dance to you.
You were 14 years old when the Challenger exploded on January 28, 1986. I was born the next day, January 29, at 7:54 p.m., in Lasalle, Quebec, Canada. At the beginning of that (Western) year, international attention was gripped—not by my birth, but by the live broadcast of the Challenger space shuttle explosion. Like you, Elon, I’m North American and well-off. I also come from a family of three, but I’m the middle child, not the oldest. I have slightly fewer financial resources. Since a catastrophic breakup in 2019 and my growing awareness of the accelerating climate, environmental, and global crises, I’ve been obsessed with collapsology—the science of things breaking, collapsing, crumbling, and exploding.

In my choreographic work, I view the body as an extraordinary tool for communication—trained using cutting-edge technology, constantly updating the information it receives from one second to the next, and transcending the language of words. Personally, I prefer to invest my money in the material we already have: the body, the compost that we are and will become. I believe our future lies within our bodies: the pores of our skin, our organs and nails, our flesh, muscles, bones, and our digestive and nervous systems, among others. »
